Reflection

Hello, everyone!
It's the last week of this semester already and it's time we shared our impressions on our development, as a group, and individually as well, especially considering the project we carried out along all these months aiming at improving the writing skill in the English language.
To do so, we did many activities in which we had to practice it, in class, at home, and online.
As a teacher I can tell you are more responsible, trying harder to meet the deadlines, and more concerned about finding strategies to improve your English. And you? Do you feel you have improved? How? What are you going to do, or keep doing, in order to reach this goal?
I hope you all will have a nice vacation and come to class next August willing to learn more and more!
See you!

Floating to the next level

Well, there is a video that I like very much. It's a parody of a song by Tears for Fears (a band that I love) and it's been a while since I wanted to show this. But, you all must have asking to yourselves what it is related for. See the video and after you will know.

I always think it's funny =B
But related to our UNIT 5 we can see a supernatural thing that happens. Roland (the vocalist) can fly! =oo
But of course it was made by chords!
Actually, some people can have this hability, I guess.
How is it possible?

The point of science we used to listen is that people normally use 5 to 10% of our brain to reason.(For example Albert Einstein had a intense action on his head and used around 10% of his brain, he could solve mathematics problems faster than the rest of the people). The others 95- 90% of neurons are "sleeping". So, when we know use this other percents of our brain we can do so many others things that is unusual, like solve counts faster, be stronger, telepathy, fly ... ( I was thinking in the serie Kyle XY)

However, others persons think that it is "stuff of the demon!" a pact with "the bad thing!". Normally we can see some ilusionists that can scape from a cage under water surrounded by sharks, walking upon nails and fire ...  and carrying a weird simbol in the t-shirt or as a tatoo, maybe related to some misticism, if good or bad I don't know...

So, what to believe? We all have our beliefs. We can do anything we want, it's our capacity. Believe on it or just deny the strange stuffs that happens nowadays is common, though, there are many others positions to reveal.

An earthwake in Brazil... Is it possible?

Magnitude 6 earthquake registered in Atlantic between Cape Verde and Brazil 16 May 2011

The United States Geological Survey revealed Sunday afternoon that an earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale took place between the Brazilian coast and the archipelago of Cape Verde.

The earthquake took place at approximately noon local time and had its epicenter in the mid-Atlantic ridge, 1,624 kilometers from Cape Verde and 1,277 kilometers from the city of Natal, on the northeastern Brazilian coast.
The American institute, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, informed that the earthquake took place at a depth of 10 kilometers below the ocean floor.
According to Rio Grande do Norte Federal University in Brazil, the type of movement that occurred in the earthquake would not result in the formation of a tsunami. “In order to generate a tsunami, movement has to be vertical, and sea water is abruptly pushed upwards or pulled down, and this is not what happened,” according to the coordinator of the university’s seismological laboratory, Joaquim Mendes.

A battle against prejudice was won

Yesterday, May, the 5th., I myself think Brazil won a battle prejudice that exist against homosexuals: Our Supreme Court of Justice, the “Supremo Tribunal Federal – STF”, has approved with the votes of all ministries the possibility of union between persons from same gender.

Off course there will be a lot of opinions and manifestations to favor or against that decision. I don't argue if it is normal or against the Federal Constitution. What I will argue is toward to the life in society.

Living in society people has rights and duties. About the duties, it doesn't matter if you are man or woman, child, teenager, young, mature or old, black, white or mixed-race, straights or gay. All who live in society must to fulfill their duties fixed by laws, regulations or prescribed norms. For example: Everybody must pay for taxes and fees, respect all laws, pay bills of public prices like electric energy, telephone and water bills. And what about the rights? Are they equal to everyone who fulfills their duties? I don't think so...

In this case of union of homosexuals it was necessary the STF make a official decision saying that it was not against the principles of the Federal Constitution to give that right to persons who fulfill their duties like everybody and wants to live together in a closer relationship.

For me it was so clear that two men or two women who live together and get goods together with their efforts should have the right to share that goods and if one of the couple dies the other one inherit that goods. If a man and a woman, a traditional couple, have those rights of heritage, why a non-traditional couple should not have it, if both, the traditional and the non-traditional couple fulfill their duties?

I guess that STF had a right decision. And what was more incredible is the fact that all ministries voted favor to union homo-affective, in spite of religious claims and arguing of ultra-orthodox groups. Congratulations, STF, to contribute to reduce at least a kind of prejudice in Brazil.

Osama Bin Laden is dead... Is it real?

We waked up this Monday with the news in mainstream media: Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, was dead by North American Marines. He was the man most hunted in world since 2001 September, the 11th, when it's attributed to him the command to destroy World Trade Center twins towers.

He was called by terrorist and he was feared by all west world, mainly Europe and USA. Due to him, USA started a war against Iraq and Saddam Hussein that USA call “war against terror”.

Now, with his death at the same time North Americans celebrate and are really afraid of retaliations from Al Qaeda and Taleban that according world press are saying they will revenge Bin Laden death.

Many sites in internet show that the operation which ended with Bin Laden death was a movie scene like a Hollywood style. A recent news on internet affirm that American Intelligence was investigating and monitoring Bin Laden daily life for a year by now.

What the world wants now is real proofs that Bin Laden is really dead because USA said he was buried in sea and it sounded strange to every world. Some news affirmed that a DNA exam confirmed the dead in fact was Bin Laden but the hole world claims for photos of Bin Laden dead. USA promises to show photos of him soon.

I ask: What about now? How the war against terrorism in world will figure it out? It will continue West Christians against East Islams? Or better: USA and Europe against Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Turkey and another majority Islam countries.

Sharing a Coca-Cola - the good is the majority

Well, I have known this video first through a friend, later seeing it on the television (the brasilian version, to speak the truth - you can check it out here), and I really liked it. Not focusing on the coke advertising, but rather in the ideia this video show us: there are much good in the world yet and there are still reasons to believe.
Despite all sad situations or actions, the good, joy and merry exist, and these are the majority, besides beeing much more stronger than those.
This kind of speech tell us about we all already know, but I think when you're upset or something like, it is good to remember values and inspiring things
(which for some can actually be a coke). And when you're happy, why don't you just share them?
Talking about the song now, it has a very beautiful lyrics, that talks about the freedom of choice and tolerance. Here above is a little part of it, hope you enjoy.

"I'm free to be whatever I
Whatever I choose
And I'll sing the blues if I want

I'm free to say whatever I
Whatever I like
If it's wrong or right it's alright"

                           Whatever, Oasis.

Wazzup? FOR ALL!

An Annoying video to our annoying life:

The video was just for laughs.

Hey guys, how are you?
So, today I decide to write about: HEART.

My grandma (in memoriam) used to tell me that our heart has the exact size that our right hand closed has and if we put our closed right hand over our left hand we have exactly the size of our heart.
I was thinking... If I do something that my heart doesn't want to do, it will work more than it has to be unless I use my hands. I always use my hands to do something. (I know it is a funny think! But, think with me).
If your hands do something that you like, you will do with a merry heart. Ok?!
But, if you do something with a sad, angry, tired heart in addition your hands will do the same way.

Heart…
This simple organ of human body.
This little thing with many arteries and veins.
They work hard when the hands are working.
They make everything to conduce blood to the hand.
The heart? “Workaholic”

Our heart do everything for our hands.

We have to take care...
Hearts are fragile.

Thank GOD, we have brain.
Our brain can HELP.
Every little thing in our body can HELP.
When we use everything in our body, our heart don’t work so much.

“But life went on in spite of it all.” Anne Frank

And I was just thinking...

For the teenagers in class... "Fans are really jealous"

Last sunday I oppened the homepage of Youtube to download a video from Black Eyed Peas (Just can't get enough). Suddenly, It called my attention a video from a dueto between brazilian county singer 'Luan Santana' and mexican singer and actress 'Belinda'. She was featuring on a show of him. They sang together a song about a couple who is fall in love each other. In the video (I decided to download it) we can see clearly some girls in show (fans of him) saying not good words and expressions to Belinda. Besides there were coments about the video with what some fans of Luan Santana had writen about Belinda, things like she was ugly, weird, bored, bad singer... and that he wouldn't have invited her to sing that song, any song, with him.
That's incredible what i see and heard beacause Belinda is so pretty, sweet and very good singer and actress. I guess the girls were quite jealous... Fans of Belinda could see her recently in soap opera "Camaleones" edited in Brazil by SBT, a brazilian tv channel.

For the adult classmates... "José Alencar: A life of fighting"

I've heard that José Alencar has began his professional journey as a salesman. Working hard as a slave, he became soon a business man when he has oppened his own business. In fact, he became one of the most wealthy brazilian business man and the most loved vice-president of Republic in brazilian history.
But the history of his life don`t resume to this. In 1999 he discovered he had cancer. He started another fight that time... against cancer now... It has passed more than ten years of fighting, but unfortunatly, he was finally defeated by cancer... He died...
Now, more than his heritage, his legacy is the example of life he gave to us. An example of perseverance, intense lovo for life, fight for goals. He was like the most of brazilian people: never gives up...
What can I say? Only this: Good bye, J.A. Lie in peace in God's Glory. You've writen his name in world history.
